A Joint Action Committee (also known as JAC or TJAC) comprising political and non-political groups was formed to lead the demand for separate Telangana with Osmania University professor M Kodandaram as its convenor.

Content:

  • Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) is a Telangana activist group. 
  • It is an organisation which is fighting for the realisation of statehood for Telangana region. 
  • It was an umbrella organisation comprising various wings such as students, employees etc.

Role of Communists Party of India(C.P.I): 

  • During the Nizam period, communist party of India started its activities in Telangana with the name “Andhra Mahasabha”
  • Later it became strong and organized Telangana armed struggle from 1948 to 1951.
  • It quit the armed struggle in 1951 and entered parliamentary politics.
  • C.P.I directed to create Vishalandhra by merging Hyderabad state and Andhra State. 
  • C.P.I got bifurcated in 1964 there by forming two parties:
  • Communist party of India and 
  • Communist party of India (Marxist)
  • During the 1969 movement, communist Party of India bound to the principle of united Andhra Pradesh didn’t support the separate Telangana movement. 
  • During the 1969 movement period, the candidate of Telangana Prajasamithi, K. Madan Mohan won the bi-election of Siddipet rural constituency. With this for the first time there held a discussion in C.P.I party an separate Telangana issue.
  • A C.P.I changed its stand from time to time according to the public opinion, which once supported an united Andhra Pradesh changed its decision towards supporting separate Telangana during the final phase of the movement. 
  • It joined the Grand alliance and contested in the 2009 election. 
  • C.P.I expressed its support to Telangana before the Srikrishna commission, Pranab mukherjee sub-committee and at the All party meeting convened by Rosaiah.
