Around 1991 two organizations, Telangana Student Front and Telangana Liberation Student Organization were launched in Osmania University to highlighted and address the Telangana student problems and also overall discrimination faced by the Telangana community. 

Content:

Telangana Liberation Students Organization:

  • In 1992, a student leader, Manohar Reddy started Telangana Liberation student’s organisation at Osmania University. 
  • During the academic year 1991-92, there was an agitation to include Prajalamanishi written by Vattikota Alwarswamy in the P.G.Syllabus.
  • By the pressure of students, the authorities included prajalamanishi novel in the M.A. correspondence course Telugu syllabus.
  • In August 1992, when the padayatra of Jala Sadhana Samithi headed by Duscharla Satyanarayana reached Osmania University, Telangana liberation students organisation held a meeting there.
  • There was a widespread agitation in 1992 regarding the local and non-local reservations in college seats. 
  • According to the Act, 15% of the total seats are open and 85% of the seats are reserved for local candidates. But the Andhra administrators defined 15% percent open quota was only for non-locals and alloted the 15% seats to non-locals.
  • Normally both the locals and non-locals who have secured top ranks will be considered as open quota. 
  • Even though the Telangana students secured top ranks, they were alloted seats in 85% local quota and the 15% open quota seats were alloted to the non-locals only.
  • Strikes and rallies were organized by the students led by T.L.S.O.
  • This organisation protested against the refusal of admissions to degree Telugu medium students in the Journalism course 
  • A group of students of this organisation went to Delhi from Hyderabad and submitted petitions to the leaders such as George Femandes, A.B.Bardhan (C.P.I), Shibu Soren (Jarkhand movement leader)
  • This organisation held a meeting on the formation of small states on 4th-5th April 1993 at Osmania University Campus.
  • This meeting was attended by a national party leader George fernandes. 
  • The government issued an order transferring the Andhra People to Telangana to fill the backlog vacancies in the aided colleges in Telangana area. 
  • Manohar Reddy observed hunger strike against these orders in 1994. 
  • Surrendered by the hunger strike, the government stopped the orders.
  • When his demand was met, Manohar Reddy withdraw his hunger strike. 
  • This organization was started for the rights of Telangana students but in the course of time, it highlighted the overall discrimination faced by the Telangana community.

Telangana Mahasabha:

  • Telangana Mahasabha was formed in August 1997 aimed at the formation of a Dalit bahujan state.
  • Suryapet meeting was organised by Telangana mahasabha with the name ‘Dhoka tinna Telangana’.
  • Separate Telangana resolution was introduced.
  • Sudhakar proposed suryapet declaration with 17 demands.
  • The meeting questioned the caste dominance of the coastal Andhra Upper Castes. 
  • This organization believed that the multi-caste leadership could only struggle for the Telangana movement. 
  • Maroju Veeranna pulled a large crowd of people those belong to scheduled castes towards the movement.
  • Maroju Veeranna was killed in an encounter. 
  • Telangana Intellectuals praised the role played by the revolutionary writers in the success of Bhongir & Suryapet meetings.

Demands:

  • A separate Telangana state should be declared immediately that has 10 districts along with Hyderabad. 
  • A white paper should be released with all the fund allocations details to Telangana, Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema from 1-11-1956. 
  • The Polavaram and Pulichintala projects should be cancelled immediately. Funds should be released for all the pending irrigation projects of Telangana region.
  • Available surplus lands should be distributed to the rural poor, Pattaless lands cultivated by poor and scheduled tribes should be allocated to them by providing all necessary pattas.
  • Agency areas should be declared as autonomous tribal areas by law according to the schedules 5 & 6 of the constitution of India. Act 1/70 should be implemented strictly so that the alienated lands should be returned to the native tribes.
  • The government should stop the pseudo encounters in Telangana region immediately. All the paramilitary and the other anti-naxalite forces should be withdrawn from the tribal areas. Human rights should be restored. 
  • The false cases registered against the innocent villagers branding them as naxalites should be lifted. 
  • No government organization should be privatized, Government should allocate funds for the sick and locked out industries and workers should get participation in the management of the industries.
  • All the seats in educational institutions of Telangana should be allotted to the local students only. 
  • The electricity produced in Telangana should be used for Telangana region only. 
  •  The Jobs in Industrial and governments sectors in Telangana region should be filled by the local Telangana people only. 
  • Opportunities for self-employment should be provided. All the social sections of Telangana should get licences and loans from various financial institutions to establish medium and large industries in proportional system. 
  • Minority sections of Telangana must have their due share in all sectors. Government shall make provisions for the linguistic, cultural and economic interests of the minorities. 
  • Usage of Telangana language should be encouraged in educational institutions, administration, Judiciary and media. To achieve this objective, a Telangana language development board should be established with only Telangana natives as members.
  • The Tribal languages of Telangana which do not have script should be protected from extinction by preparing a special script for them. A special board should be established to research and develop the tribal culture, art and history on regional basis.
  • Skill development of different professions of Telangana society should be introduced in the educational system of Telangana. by Aspects of dignity of labour, historical background of oppressed classes, culture, lifestyle explained in a scientific and democratic perspective should be introduced in the lessons. 
  • Economic policy of the government in the last 40 year served only for the financial interests of the capitalists, industrialists of the coastal Andhra region. A new economic policy for the benefit of socially backward people should be introduced and implemented.
